Hey there and happy Monday! I’ve decided to do more outfit posts around here (awkward, nervous smile). I usually stick to outfit posts when showcasing ethical brands to keep the focus off me. If you do it right, I think sharing style inspiration can be an empowering, inspiring, and a creative outlet rather than a breeding ground for weird self promotion (a fine line I’m still learning!) Definitely going for the former. Definitely staying aware of the latter. To keep things real, perhaps I’ll start sharing some of the outfit poses I try that are just a disaster? Humility in large doses, please! We’ll see how this goes 🙂

When I first started shopping ethically, I started small. Easing my way into sustainable style kept me from becoming overwhelmed and quitting one week in (flashbacks to grade school soccer are so real). Now, what does starting small look like? Heyyy, jewelry! It’s a fantastic starting place. Not only is it affordable, but it can encourage you to actually wear the clothes you already own (which is the easiest and cheapest way to be more ethical, am I right?!) A few brands stocked with accessories I love are Mata Traders, Noonday Collection, Raven + Lily, and 31 Bits. Don’t be stressed by thinking ethical shopping means you have to completely transform your entire wardrobe all the way down to your undies (though there’s ethical options for that, too! Sorry, too far?)

Start small. Take it easy. Don’t get overwhelmed. Learn, learn, learn. Try again. Check out The List for more incredible, empowering, and sustainable companies handcrafting fun and funky jewelry to help you on this ethical journey!
