Last year, I popped into Purpose Boutique in Kirkland, Washington, and fell in loooove. This incredible little shop curates + sells an array of popular ethical brands from around the world. Fair warning friends: You will want everything you see.
As I perused the shelves and table displays, my eyes were immediately drawn to a gorgeous wooden + beaded necklace that popped against it’s white backdrop. I knew if I tried this piece on, I would be taking it home… so, of course, I tried it on! I soon discovered this unique Mesa necklace was handcrafted by an artisan in India via Mata Traders: an artful clothing + jewelry company who empower women through Fairtrade design.
“The Mata Traders mission is to ‘fashion a better world’ by creating designs that
celebrate a woman’s originality and empower her to use her dollar for change. We
merge uncommonly vibrant style with fair trade practices to make an impact on
global poverty – bringing living wages to artisans in India and Nepal.”
