I never was a coffee connoisseur. For years, I actually didn’t like coffee at all. I found the taste too bitter and the jolt of caffeine made me shake. Eventually, I started working for a well known coffee company (green aprons anyone?) and my relationship with coffee began. I still didn’t love it, but I began to appreciate it. I drank a lot of tea and sugary lattes back in the day.
Once college began, a cup of joe or hot soy latte was always close at hand. My friends and I would procrastinate on our homework until a local coffee shop was finally suggested. Studying away from your dorm room with a warm beverage in hand always made learning much more motivating!
Now as a teacher, coffee and I are on a new level. I wouldn’t say I’m obsessed. I can make it without. But oh, coffee… You make me a much sweeter, more energetic, fun teacher! Hence I keep the java around. (You’re welcome students!)
In an age where men, women, and children are constantly exploited for their labor- particularly in the coffee industry- I was excited to find a delicious and reasonably priced brand that empowers their employees.
I enjoyed the simple flavor of the breakfast blend, though the company offers a variety of roasts. I used a basic pour over method and it worked wonderfully.
